Several users now use the messaging app, and with the elections approaching, there will be close monitoring over improper usages like a bulk of message or any other behaviours will be blocked in no time.

Woong approached and confirmed that the base users for WhatsApp are 1.5 billion and country India is considered one of the largest user of WhatsApp. Over 2 million accounts are already banned. The size of the WhatsApp group to be used by the user is now 10.

Woong also said that to keep and maintain users privacy of customers, the servers hold the message for a short duration and don’t allow decryption of the message that is end to end encrypted.

WhatsApp took the initiative that from 2019 misinformation circulation will be banned along with forwarding message labelling, limiting the number of transmitted messages an individual can be sent and control over WhatsApp groups.

A grievance officer is also appointed to check all the complains registered by people in India.

At present, WhatsApp is working with government bodies, law enforcement agencies, fact checkers and civil society organisations to keep an end and further check who is misinformant.
