Pelé became the very first player in the history of Football to score four figure mark (1,000 goals).
Brazil’s retired professional football player Edson Arantes do Nascimento, known as Pelé became the very first player to score four figure mark (1,000) in competitive football in November 1969 after converting a penalty for Santos against Vasco da Gama in Rio.
That special match was halted for 30 minutes as fans invaded the ground. Pelé, who turns 78 recently, also given a speech appealing for improved treatment of Brazil’s poor children before play resumed.
Pelé is regarded as the greatest player of all time. In 1999, he was voted World Player of the Century by the International Federation of Football History & Statistics (IFFHS), and was one of the two joint winners of the FIFA Player of the Century award.
